Abstract |
Background. The article aims at studying the therapeutic efficacy of mexidol, timogen and hyperbaric oxygenation in complex treatment of patients with neurotic personality development.
Materials and methods. The study included 66 patients - 50 women, 16 men. The average age of the patients was 48,6 ± 10,5 years. Patients were divided into two groups (n = 33). Patients Group № 1 was prescribed conventional therapy: Diazepam 10mg per day for intravenous injection once a day for 20 days, paroxetine 40mg once in the morning for 30 days. Patients Group № 2 base therapy was supplemented by mexidol which was injected by dripfeed 200 mg per day (4 ml of 5 % solution) intravenously with 200 ml of physiological sodium chloride solution for 20 days, followed by the transfer to the tablet form of 125 mg 3 times a day up to 30 days; 1 ml of timogen as 0.01 % solution was injected intramuscularly daily for 10 days and 5 days every second day; hyperbaric oxygenation sessions conducted in BLKS-301 and 303 MK pressure chambers with isopression period of 40 min, overpressure 1,6 atmospheres, general course of 21 sessions. Performance criteria for the final evaluation of the results of treatment were reduction of the severity of psychiatric symptoms, health and social activity restoration.
Results. Chronic stress causes the development of lingering forms of neurotic disorders and leads to neurotic personality development. In case of such disease, against the background of traditional therapy with anxiolytics and antidepressants the symptoms such as reduced motivation, productivity at work and social activities are not even cut off, but the side effects by these drugs are aggravated. Application of mexidol, hyperbaric oxygenation and timogen in combination with paroxetine and diazepam not only promotes more effective relief of anxiety and neurotic hypochondriac fixation with the development of the individual, but also the rapid recovery of the level of motivation, physical and mental health, and social adaptation.
Conclusions. Combination therapy by mexidol, hyperbaric oxygenation, diazepam and paroxetine allowed to accelerate the reduction of the basic psychological symptoms of neurotic personality development, to reduce the side effects of benzodiazepine anxiolytics and antidepressants, increase the efficiency of patients and their quality of life, indicating the efficiency and safety of this regimen.
